Swansea University Race Engineering
Swansea University Race Engineering is the home of the Formula Student effort at Swansea University. Formula Student is an international competition held annually in the United Kingdom. It gives students the opportunity to design and build small single-seater racing cars and then compete against each other in a number of events.

Well our two teams for this year's Formula Student UK Competition have now completed the registration procedure. This year it has been decided that the complete team will be split into two separate entries for the FSUK event. The Class 1 (running car) entry will comprise of those members who have competed at the event before, whilst the Class 2 (design) entry will comprise of new members who will be continuing with Formula Student next year. This decision was made due to all (except 2) members who have been to the competition before will be leaving the University at the end of this academic year, so to give our new members a chance to do well next year, they will experience all aspects of the competition from actually facing the judges in the static events to getting involved with the dynamic events thereafter. The car number for the Class 1 team is to be 112.

This week, the aluminium honeycomb section of the chassis for S12 is into the manufacturing stage, along with the new aluminium hubs. The chassis designs for the new car are now complete.
S11 was taken out on what was probably its very last testing session last week. Everyone who participated enjoyed themselves and some good data was collected.

Come and see us in action at Prescott Hillclimb this weekend!
The team are currently preparing to take the S11 car to Prescott Hillclimb this weekend (3rd & 4th September). Before we go, we will be taking the car testing on the Friday morning to allow a few more drivers to get a feel for the car before they drive it at the hillclimb. This weekend sees the British Hillclimb Championship at Prescott, competing in the event known as The Prescott Gold Cup Weekend.
